We are engaged residents of Putney, VT. We are encouraging Putney residents to learn more about the long-term economic and social impacts of different proposed housing solutions.
We support accessibility initiatives and vulnerable populations. We support public housing and pathways to home ownership. We stand for strategic, community-driven housing and accessibility solutions that consider Putney’s most vulnerable populations and diverse ecosystems, which are intertwined. We support solutions that emphasize community control over public resources and tax incentives which include; public housing, alternative housing and pathways to home ownership.
We support infill housing options integrated into existing residential areas that keep the control of housing in many, rather than a few hands. We support the preservation of open spaces and currently our primary focus is to preserve and conserve the open space at the entrance to Putney, along the 1/10th. mile Alice Holway town road. This property is contiguous to the Putney Community Garden and is now under review in an appeal in The Vermont Superior Court, Environmental Division.

Endangered Species
Protection of these areas and species should be a high priority when consideration of new development and access is proposed |
Alice HolwaY
A member of the Women's Land Army 1917-1020 Alice moved to Vermont and did what was considered “men’s work” plowing fields, driving tractors, planting, harvesting, and hauling lumber. |
Environmental Court
A thoughtful appeal of the approved permit is now before the Vermont Superior Court, Environmental Division. |
From Putney's Town Plan: The State of Vermont considers some of Putney’s habitats (Black Gum Swamp and Quaking Bog) and animal species (Green Snake, Blue-spotted and Jefferson Salamanders and Wood Turtle) to be rare. Some of these special species are on lands already conserved by the owners. Protection of these areas and species should be a high priority when consideration of new development and access is proposed.
